Swell de Spirits - Mexican Gin - Distillerie

Swell de Spirits and Los Convivados, the gin tribute to Mexico

The fruit of a Franco-Mexican partnership, Swell de Spirits and Los Convidados explore the diversity of Mexico’s spirits culture to surprise you with its unique flavors. Discover a London dry Gin like you’ve never tasted before.

Lauthenticité mexicaine

Did you know that? Mexico, and more specifically the Jalisco region, has been a land of spirits since the 16th century. It’s no coincidence, then, that Swell de Spirits and Los Convidados have chosen to draw inspiration from them to fashion remarkable bottles. They’ve extended the spectrum of agave drinks to include Rum and Gin, adding a little more complexity without losing the authenticity that drew them here in the first place.

The aim of this deeply human project is to highlight a know-how that has been handed down from generation to generation. It is the result of hard work from field to distillation. Every stage of production is essential, as are the various personalities involved. Together, they create special recipes like no other, guided by the desire to offer consumers an unparalleled experience.

Satvrnal, a distillery ofexception

To soak up this Mexican terroir, there’s nothing like a trip to the Satvrnal distillery, just 30 minutes from Guadalajara. Its name refers to Saturnalia, the ancient Roman festival that glorified the god of time and agriculture. This is where London Dry Gin Mexicain x Los Convidados is born, between the powerfully perfumed fermentation vats and the stills adorned with the local copper snake heads.

A real favorite of the Swell de Spirits and Los Convidados teams, this establishment, expertly run by Pedro Andrés and Jorge Nájera, has earned itself a solid reputation. The reason? A meticulously supervised process from start to finish. After four years of perfecting the recipe, they entrusted Swell de Spirits and Los Convidados with the task of creating this incomparable gin. As a sign of their commitment, they work with dry materials and local talent. This translates into hand-blown bottles made from recycled glass and a label designed by Guadalajara-born artist Daniel Barreto. One more way of proving, if proof were needed, how much they celebrate local passion and richness.

Starting with a base of London dry Gin, they’ve added Colima lime and coriander leaves, a resolutely Mexican twist that’s instantly seductive on tasting. The nose is dominated by crisp juniper and citrus. The bouquet gradually unfolds, revealing scents of angelica, olive, sage, rosemary and basil. A few sips and it’s the sweetness that impresses, with a deliciously oily sensation. Its aromatic richness is underpinned by superb balance, with a finish featuring pink grapefruit, cashew nuts, melon and capers. Only 1000 bottles of this Mexican Gin to be found and enjoyed with a Mediterranean tonic or in a cocktail. It is perfect for composing Dirty Martini and Negroni.

And they don’t intend to stop there, with the release of limited editions resulting from singular processes, such as aging in Mezcal or Tequila barrels, planned once a year. We look forward to further celebrations of Mexican spirits culture in the near future.
