Where does Hendrick’s Orbium Gin come from?
In the heart of the mysterious Ayrshire region in the far reaches of Scotland lies the birthplace of HENDRICK’S Gin. Just off the coast, “The Most Unusual Gin” was born in William Grant & Sons’ grain distillery in Girvan.
How is this gin made?
This exceptional gin is made by hand, in very small quantities, using a distillation in two very old stills, the Carter Headet and the Bennett Still, which gives it an aromatic sweetness and personality.
That’s why it’s so popular!
Orbium comes from Latin and means “circle”. Why this name? The Master Distiller Lesley Gracie describes the round, spherical taste that characterizes Hendrick’s style. For his gin, Gracie chose to add quinine, wormwood and blue lotus buds to the traditional ingredients used to make Hendrick’s gin – German cucumber and Bulgarian roses.
The result is acomplex and brilliant gin, characterized by bitter and floral notes and a very long finish.
The Hendrick’s Orbium bottle is the classic Hendrick’s gin bottle, in the pharmaceutical style, but with a beautiful dark blue color and the “all-seeing eye” on the label.
By tasting this gin you will :
Delicate and subtle aromas of lotus that melt away
to the elegant character of Juniper with notes of ripe fruit and fragrant flowers.
The soft and dry attack is balanced by a
subtle palate of lemon zest that develops
with a touch of spice. The length is marked
by the woody and bitter quinine, which evolves
progressively towards a vegetal finish and a
flowery glow.
