A modern classic developed in Hamburg in 2008 by Jörg Meyer. This explosion of freshness is therefore relatively recent in the history of cocktails. First named Gin Pesto, it becomes Basil Smash and makes its official entry in the smash cocktails whose particularity is to include fresh herbs or crushed fruits in their composition. This drink must be strong in basil and a pronounced green to be successful.

Basil Smash

- 1 Shaker
- 1 cocktail strainer
- 1 Glass Tumbler
- 1 pestle
Ingredients
- 6 cl Gin
- 3 cl Freshly squeezed lemon juice
- 2 cl Sugar syrup
- 12 sheets Fresh basil
- Ice cubes
Préparation
- Place the basil leaves in the shaker
- Plucking basil leaves
- Add gin, lemon juice, sugar syrup and ice cubes
- Shake vigorously for 15 sec
- Strain into a tumbler glass filled with ice cubes
